Theo van Hoytema (1863-1917) was a Dutch artist celebrated for his book covers and calendars—especially those featuring birds. After trying a conventional office path, he chose art instead, studying at the Royal Academy of Art and training his eye by drawing natural-history specimens, which led to early scientific illustration commissions. He later embraced lithography and became part of major Dutch art circles, creating beloved bird-themed picture-book imagery and, even through periods of fragile health, producing the calendar designs that made him widely famous.
Made for a cozy cottagecore theme, this decorative wall art elevates nature theme decor while bringing the gentle spirit of woodland animals and forest animals indoors—a go-to pick for collectors and nature themed gifts shoppers drawn to retro animal print character.
