London Landmark Art – often promoted as the “Great Tower of London” – was an ambitious iron lattice visitor attraction planned for Wembley Park (then in Middlesex), just north of the city. Led by railway entrepreneur Sir Edward Watkin, it was intended to soar to an astonishing 358 metres (1,175 ft), explicitly aiming to surpass the Eiffel Tower in Paris and to crown Wembley Park’s rise as a new recreational destination for day-trippers, spectacle seekers, and city dreamers.
But the legend is in the contrast: the tower never reached its intended height and, in the end, only about 47 metres (154 ft) were completed – earning it the unforgettable “London Stump” reputation. Eventually demolished, the site later became home to Wembley Stadium. This vintage-style poster print is curated from five original competition designs – Design No. 37 (the winning entry) alongside four other standout proposals – bringing that near-mythic episode to your walls with crisp detail and timeless character, and making a standout gift for architecture lovers and London history collectors.
