Founded by brothers August and Frederick Duesenberg in Des Moines, Iowa, the company was known for its high-performance luxury cars and race cars. The Duesenberg Model J, introduced in 1929, was one of the most prestigious and expensive cars of its time and was favoured by celebrities and wealthy individuals. Despite its high quality, the Great Depression and changing market preferences contributed to the company’s eventual downfall and it was sold in 1937. However, the Duesenberg brand remains an iconic symbol of American luxury and craftsmanship.
