Great accent piece. Decorate your kitchen, bathroom or any other room with an authentic design: Acanthus is an early William Morris pattern and it’s based on the original 1874 textile pattern, first manufactured as wallpaper by Jeffrey and Co. in 1875. William Morris described Acanthus as a “luxurious” pattern, an appropriate description since early on. Acanthus later found its way to printed wallpaper and eventually to large pattern printed wallpaper, printed at Merton Abbey. These larger patterns were slower to be well-received by the middle classes.

A pioneer of the Arts & Crafts Movement, William Morris (1834–1896) is one of the most influential designers of all time. Morris turned the tide of Victorian England against an increasingly industrialized manufacturing process towards a rediscovered respect for the skill of the maker. Morris’s whole approach still resonates today, and his designs are popular and much admired.
