Sisymbrium Cumingianum In order to promote his groundbreaking discovery of negative-positive paper photography, William Henry Fox Talbot, a prominent English scientist, inventor, and photography pioneer, sent photogenic drawings to several Italian scientists between 1839 and 1840. The first recipient of these stunning works of art was the renowned Bolognese botanist Antonio Bertoloni, who received 36 photogenic drawings showcasing various plant leaves and plants, among others. These photographs were collected in the exceptional volume “Album di disegni fotogenici”.
